DIY reupholstery

Last weekend with my friend Ann, I tried once again to reupholster two Ann's pouffs. First time wasn't very succesfull but now we are proud of our work.

"Before" they were very worn out. They were upholstered with some leatherette, made in PRL years. This picture was taken just after cutting off the buttons:
Not very pretty, huh? Ann decided to do something with them or to threw them out. But fortunatelly we managed to give them new look :) They were worth our time and effort. And "after"? Taadaaam:

Voila! :D

Fabolous, aren't they? Ann is considering if buttons are necessary, but with or without them pouffs look stunning :)

We bought some fabric in second hand shop - it was long curtain. Ann spent about 10 pln for it. When we came to Ann's apartament, it turned out that it's perfect color - exactly the same as Ann&Luke's couch!

We plan to upholster my coat hanger. If we'll find time.. :)

old&new crafts

well, some time ago I made a pair of felt slippers. I used old felted striped sweater. Although they don't look as amazing as those from japanese craft magazine, but they are very soft and warm - i love them :) recently we moved to "our flat" and we wanted to change some simple ikea furniture to "our ones", slightly different than those straight from the shop. So we glued some wallpaper to the bookshelf, and now we have shelf with mesh networks pattern (kind of network topology for those who doesn't like computer science). I know that someone, who designed this pattern wanted to achieve some kind of star or floralish pattern, but for us (2 computer scientists) it looks more like network topology than like some flowers. :D

This weekend my sister was a bridesmade on his friend's wedding. She wanted to have pink handbag. She couldn't find suitable design in the shops so decided to make it herself. Our parents helped her: dad made a framework from 2 plastic flowerpots joined together with sticky tape (he developed barrel shaped container) and mom sewed the material, which my sister liked, to this frame.
And voila!
last but not least - a table that I made with my mom in 2000. It is made from broken tiles, glued to wooden circle. Now it is standing on my balcony - I can eat breakfast or read a book there. :)

spring pictures

hello hello!
me again :D no time to write, just beautiful pictures of polish spring :D

we tried to make some metheglin this weekend in Jarosław. It has to stay in this big bottle for at least 8 months.. I hope it will be good :D:D:D
and our delicious dinner - scrumbled eggs with some raddish and spring onion. :) Mmmmmm...

my MA thesis?... working through it.. :D

time..

..it is that thing that I haven't much..
I'm looking forward finishing my studies to have it more. When my MA thesis will be ready, I will have more time to make crafty things and publish it here :D:D:D

But for the moment I'm to tired when I get back home and I think only about what things I have to implement or read for my work or masters paper...

I was hoping that during last semester of studies there will be fewer classes but it was my mistake... Additionally our teacher doesn't realize that most of us don't have time to write 4 projects in 3 months.. And that his classes aren't as interesting as he thinks they are... eh...

yeah, I'm grumbling, I know. Sorry..

falafel

Well I tried to make it on Saturday but I think I failed.. :(
When I did everything which was written in the recipe, it was completely falling apart during frying... I had to add an egg to save my meal. But finally it wasn't as good as the original one (although my family claimed it was delicious - but they haven't eaten the real one). Maybe because I used brown chickpeas?..

I take comfort in that men in Amman make falafel every day and this was my first time. Maybe next time it will be better..

I didn't take any pictures, I was to heavy with cooking. :)

here we are.. again..

We're back!
Making a long story short: Egypt is dirty and annoying while Jordan is amazing, beautiful, interesting and breathtaking. :)
it's our picture from Petra (do you remember Indiana Jones' adventures in this place? :P). For me it was the most remarkable and prodigious place we visited during this trip.. Simply wow! I myself was acting like whole bunch of japanese tourists - i took one photo after another because everything was sooo amazing and worth perpetuating.
In Amman Radek showed us real city (not the part destined only for tourists) with its inhabitants and their real life. I bought some truly amazing spices and i'm going to cook orginal jordanian dish - falafel (Radek and Ola took us for supper and we ate it there) made from chickpeas and parsley with special spices. The day we spent in Amman was superb and i'm glad that we resigned from going at Dead Sea for it.
Eh.. And now we have to come back to reality, real life, work and studies.... :(

Jordan here we come!

Tomorrow we are starting our trip - Egypt+Jordan, a week for each of these countries :)
I'm looking forward to go there, I'm tired of sitting 18 hours a day in front of computer :/ I want some vacations :)
We are flying to Egypt first, and we are resting there. We have plan: to go to Cairo to see The Pyramids and National Museum.. Maybe ten some scuba diving? We'll see.. :)

After that we are going to Jordan and we will see Radek, Mateusz's brother there. He studies in Amman arabic filology. We want to see some historical places and visit some non-touristic sights in Amman. Maybe Radek will show us them..

Anyway, I have two weeks without work, school, computer and getting up early. Yupi! :D

These are the slippers that I wrote you about. Aren't they superb?

dreaming..

I noticed today - I love japanese craft magazines! I can see parts of them on other craft blogs and they're always sooooooo cute.. Patterns for beautiful and simple japanese style things are gorgeous!

Lately I saw some striped felt slippers and I loved them. Unfortunately the picture didn't show the tutorial part... :(

I hate the fact that in Poland there are no japanese craft magazines...
Or maybe they are but I don't know where to look for them?

Anyway now I'm dreaming about a copy of 'Cotton Time' for example.... What a dream.. Hehehe.. :D:D:D:D

And I decided to take a photo of my grandparents' wedding photo :) They are my mother's parents:
Beautiful, isn't it? I love it, I don't know why.. Maybe because it's so simple and true?

And now me, skiing :) Dad took that photo so I'm really not in focus but maybe that's better :D
